Networking
Together with the sustainable business rebuy, in the future we aim to equip 2,000 homeless people in Berlin with mobile telephones so that they can send and receive information that is important for their lives. For now though, we are beginning by distributing long-lasting, prepaid, push-button phones with starter credit. In cooperation with the Hamburg-based company linkmobility, a voluntary SMS network is set to develop between the users and the homeless helpers from the KARUNA Task Force. Anyone who wants to can submit their telephone number and fantasy name to the helpers and will then receive short messages such as bad weather warnings, notifications of new and established projects for helping the city’s homeless, tips on how to behave during the pandemic, or individual updates, such as: “We have a new sleeping bag for you,” or “Are you interested in a bit of casual work?”
